The Appraisal Institute is a not-for-profit professional membership association dedicated to excellence in appraising. The
Appraisal Institute offers high quality education including week-long courses
and half-day and full-day seminars that are approved under various continuing
education requirements for many real estate professions.
As the world's premier organization
of professional real estate appraisers, the Appraisal Institute awards professional
designations to those who have demonstrated superior appraising ability and
judgment. Membership includes general appraisal members who hold the MAI, SRPA,
or SREA, designations, and residential appraisal members who hold the SRA or
RM designations.
These designations are not easily earned. To receive a designation, a member must
complete demanding training and educational requirements, have field experience
reviewed by peers, and successfully complete a demonstration appraisal report.
Additionally, designated Appraisal Institute members are held to high continuing
education requirements. These requirements are significantly above the basic
requirements to be a State-certified or licensed appraiser.
Recognized for their experience
and extensive knowledge of real estate valuation and evaluation, Appraisal Institute
members adhere to a strict Code of Professional Ethics and Standards of Professional
Appraisal Practice.
The Greater Oregon Chapter of the
Appraisal Institute encompasses the State of Oregon and southwestern Washington
State. There are two subchapters: Portland and Eugene. For the meeting schedule,
please check the Calendar of Events.
Educational offerings and meetings
are open to the public.
